My family and I are moving to San Francisco later at the start of next year Jan 2019. We have 2 children under 3 and are looking at areas to live. Where do people recommend? We're looking for a safe neighbourhood, with good pre-schools, parks, houses with decent gardens, and a village-like feel...

My husband will be working near Union Square, so ideally would like a maximum commute of 1hr.

I would be grateful for Suggestions

Thanks

Traffic in the Bay Area is horrendous these days. If you stay out of the city, make sure to stay close to a BART line. On the west side that allows you to go out as far as Burlingame and SFO area. On the east side you can stay in Berkeley, or Oakland or as far south as Fremont. As far as safety goes, most areas are safe. I would avoid Hayward, San Leandro and Richmond. Hope you have a large budget.  A decent 3 bed apartment is gonna cost you anywhere from 4000+ per month depending on location. Good pre schools are everywhere but expensive. Much harder to get into one in the city.
