Hi all,

I moved to Italy just before the pandemic. It was for work, I was doing my PhD before in Germany. The pandemic and lockdown was a crush, and then at the university I work I encountered other issues. We need to rush because we "lost time", but also here my decisions are constantly questioned by my boss. We all lose because of that because I do things that I don't believe will work (as suggested by boss). I don't know if I can go on like that, it is a truly tiring situation. I find it difficult here that people talk all the time and I can't focus in the office or anywhere else and they don't react to my nonverbal communication.

I would like to change job but I don't speak the language yet, how do I start to look for an only English-speaking job in Italy?

Is it even possible?

Hi there, for some information on finding a job in Italy, you can read this page Working in Italy. Sometimes word of mouth works best along with networking, but it's also helpful to look at online portals and social media networks too. Are you looking for work in a particular field?

I hope this helps

Hello,

I understand this is an old question, but felt it would help others with similar queries.

It is not impossible, extremely difficult to get a english-only speaking job in Italy. Sometimes it would be possible in back-office without any customer interfaces. Anyway, now the Italian government is very keen on integration of migrants into their society and made is mandatory to have Italian language proficiency even obtain a permanent residence or even citizenship.

So, today or tomorrow you must learn the language to settle in. Start with a language course today for better tomorrow if you look to settle in here.

Thanks,
