I visited London a few years ago and fell in love with the city. I'm from Poland and from what I understand that I am from an EU member state, I can still move to the UK during this transitional period before Brexit really comes into action. In which case, it really is now or never for me and I've been weighing up this decision for a while.

What are the positives and negatives of expat life in the city? Also, is there hostility to foreigners now?

I'd love to get some insights from expats already living in London so I can make a well-thought-out decision.

Thanks.

Taylor

Hi Taylor

Brexit is still in discussion, the fine details haven't been worked out yet. There is still time to move to London, however, it is still suggested to take time to plan your move properly. Whether you move now or later, you may still have to register for a UK visa at some point. Many parts of London and the UK have vibrant expat communities, and this will not change after Brexit. They are part of the city and will continue thriving.

While there is an air of hostility towards foreigners, from the experiences of many expats, this hostility mostly occurs online rather than in person. Many locals are warm and inviting, especially in a city as diverse as London.

There are many positive and negative aspects of living in London. London is fairly expensive, however, just outside the city centres accommodation becomes much more affordable. London has great job opportunities, however, this may be industry-specific.

What industry do you work in?

Hope this helps!
