Are your children able to speak French or Dutch? I'm assuming their home language is English? Public schools will teach in one of these two languages. There is some support for English speakers, but it's limited. It's worth remembering though that the younger they are the easier it will be for them to pick up a new language, although if it's only a temporary move it might not be worth going through the difficulty of this.
In the case of only passing through for a few years, it's usually best to opt for an international school for minimum disruption, preferably one where they can continue with the curriculum they currently learn. Being a major EU capital, there are many good international schools to choose from in Brussels, many of which teach the British, US, or International Baccalaureate curricula.
