Hi all. My family and I are hoping to relocate to NZ in the new year from South Africa. I have two kids. My youngest has some learning difficulties and I have been homeschooling her as public school here wasn't a viable option. What options are available in New Zealand for her? Is homeschooling still possible?

Hi, homeschooling is definitely possible in NZ. However, parents who want to homeschool need to apply for permission from the Ministry of Education.

On the other hand, New Zealand schools are known for being inclusive. Most educators are trained to help children with learning difficulties and help children integrate into the schooling system. For children who really can't adjust to public school requirements, there are also Resident Special Schools. You can read more about the different schooling options in our page on Education and Schools in New Zealand.

You can also have a look at the website New Zealand Education for more specific advise from the country's government.
