Hi,

I decided to relocate to Portugal this year and through this process I also managed to get a job offer. My idea was initially to build up my own company there but then I received this offer and now will be working with a company in Lisbon area.

I need advice on a lot of things. I am currently in the process of finalizing my contracts at my current resident and I am a swedish citizen. So the move will be as an EU. My questions is do I qualify for the NH visa as the role is a management role and I have not lived there before and therefore would also like to benefit from this. Do you have any recommendation in terms of relocation and set up agents to help me through this?

I currently freelance in my current region and only have license to do it regionally,  would you know any ways where I can start the role without causing greater issues when I finally register in Portugal? I would need about 2 more months before I can do the move (also need to find a place to live )

Also my current place is fully furnished, is it worth it to relocate all the items or should I start fresh with new furniture?

Thank you for your help and feedback

Hi there,

Congratulations on the job offer and the move!

The Expat Arrivals Portugal Guide is a good place to start for more information on moving to and living in the country. As an EU citizen, you simply need a valid passport to live and work in Portugal. You must then register your residence within 90 days of arriving and receive a residency certificate. Still, we recommend contacting your embassy with case-specific data, and they can provide you the most up-to-date information.

Our Relocation Companies in Portugal page lists relocation companies that can help you navigate the visa and licencing processes and advise you on what might be best for shipping your furniture or purchasing new items when you arrive in Portugal.

I hope this helps, and all the best!
